Today at work, my boss told me,
he'd have to let me go.
An eviction notice came today,
I have no place to go.
Gotta stack of bills- they're all past due,
the tax man's at my door.
Can't shake this case of dejavu,
I've been here before.
I'm lookin' for a miracle
God knows that's what I need
Life's beat me to the ground again
And knocked me to my knees
I'm lookin' for a miracle
Lord have mercy on me.
My spirit's low, I'm all alone,
depression weighs me down.
The friends I had when times were good,
no longer come around.
Got some change in my coat pocket,
comes to about a buck.
I'd play it on the lottery,
but I've run out of luck.
I don't want to ask for handouts
I'm clinging to my pride.
I've always earned my way in life,
never taking a free ride.
But now I need a little help
Some sunshine on my path.
So I'm lookin' up to heaven
And its God I'm gonna ask.
