Read an email today, about a young man
Who'd had a sad life, and devised a plan
That would end his life, on that very day
Sure no one would care, if he went away
At school that morning, when he dropped his books
Most the kids laughed or gave dismissive looks
As he bent down, trying not to cry
A boy walked over, and knelt nearby
The fellow grinned big, and gave him a wink
Surprised - our young man, didn't know what to think
They became friends, on that very day
It changed that boy's life, in a major way

For you to make a difference, every day
A smile, a touch, something kind you say

Two years later on graduation day
That young man spoke - here's what he had to say
Not long ago I wished my life would end
Had it all planned out, 'till I met my friend
When the others laughed, he lent a hand
There's a point here folks, you must understand
The choices you make, each and every day
Affect those near you, in a special way
So remember next time, when you see someone
Who could use some help, and extend some love
Just a small gesture, give someone a break
